Skiing tour of the mountain infantry of World War I

A skiing trip inside the breathtaking landscape of the Dolomites in the Dolomiti Superski skiing area.

The Pralongia plateau with view of the Marmolada and the sadly famous combat area around the "Col di Lana" are certainly the most impressive parts of the Dolomites Tour. The skiing tour is framed by the following Dolomite mountains: Civetta, Monte Pelmo, Tofana, Lagazuoi, Conturines, Settsass, Sassongher, Sella and Marmolada. Marks of World War I are found everywhere, like fortifications, military posts, trenches crossing the mountains, parapet walks and various objects related to that war time. The old war museum on the way to the Dolomite Pass Falzarego is also worth visiting.

Sella Ronda Tour Grande Guerra with Marmolada

The tour starts at the Sella Ronda in Selva (Dantercepies), continues towards the skiing area of Alta Badia to Corvara, than further towards Passo Campolongo and finally to Arabba. From there the cable car on the left takes you to Porta Vescovo, from where you will enjoy the wonderful downhill slope to Malga Ciapela. If the weather conditions are suitable you can also hike up to the glacier Marmolada with a height of 3342 m. From here you ski down the steep slope or you can practice Free Ride. The descent takes you down among frozen waterfalls to Sottoguda, then you reach the cable car to Alleghe by ski bus. The cable car takes you to Col dei Baldi, there you descent to Pescul and for one last time you catch the ski bus to reach Rifugio Fedare. The next steps are the ascent to Averau and the descent towards Cinque Torri. The cable car of Falzarego takes you to Lagazuoi where you will enjoy the ski slope towards Armentarola, from there you will be taken to the valley in a horse drawn carriage.
