In addition to adapting our menu to each season, we create new culinary themes each week: such as “starters- and pasta-week”, the “week of fish specialties”, and the traditional “Castelrottol-weeks” in fall, which involve all kinds of traditional South Tyrolean dishes.
Fall in South Tyrol is known as the time to harvest wine and chestnuts. During this special time, some farmers in the area prepare traditional South Tyrolean dishes for guests, involving feasts of fresh meat, sauerkraut, sausages, chestnuts, and sweet wine. This fall tradition is called “Toerggelen”. Hiking to these farms and enjoying such a meal is a real adventure for tourists and locals alike. Our Dolomiti Romantic Hotel Abinea organizes “Toerggele”-Hiking Trips each year in the fall from the end of September to the end of October, which includes visiting an original, traditional “Toerggele”-farmhouse.
