Tips for hot summer days

“Legambiente”, the biggest environmental organization in Italy, has evaluated the best ecological systems of the lakes in South Tyrol of 2009. The Fiè er Lake was nominated as one of the five lakes that were ranked the highest. The Fiè er Lake is considered one of the most beautiful lakes with the highest water quality.

“The nomination fills us with pride”, emphasized the mayor of Fiè , Arnold Kompatscher, after the nomination at the Trasimeno-Lake. He further explained that” we are not only so proud because we have the best ecological system, but also because we got highly commended for our boarding structures and garbage separation system”. The nomination is not only a commendation for the community of Fiè am Sciliar for its heightened environmental consciousness, but it also informs people where to find the highest water quality.

How to get to the Fiè er Lake by car:

Driving with the car from Castelrotto towards Fiè, turn left towards the Fiè er Lake after about 10 km; continue until you reach the parking lot at the Fiè er Lake to the right. Although, you have to pay to park, you can access and use the lake for swimming for free.
The Fiè er Lake is also accessible by foot starting from Castelrotto or from Siusi (Hiking Path Number 2).

The locals also love the public pool in Telfen, which is located between Siusi and Castelrotto. In the summer it is the right place to relax. A saying goes: “At the local pool young people meet older folks, and kids don’t know a more adventurous play ground.” A day at the public pool is almost like half a vacation.

The Kalterer Lake is also one of the well-loved lakes of South Tyrol. It is the biggest lake in South Tyrol and offers the possibility of windsurfing (with a windsurfing school), rowboats and paddleboats and big fields to lay down on. The big and little Montiggler Lake offers a pool area with water slides for children.
