Paragliding is easy to do and uncomplicated if you have the help of a certified tandem-flight pilot: a couple of steps, a bit of courage and you are already up in the air flying and enjoying the view. Experience the unique nature of the Dolomites- nothing but quiet air of the Alps. While you are gliding like an eagle in the air, you will be able to experience the fascinating mountain world of South Tyrol. A feeling you will never forget.

The airfield on the Alpe di Siusi with its starting point on the Spitzbuehl is one of the most famous in South Tyrol. Because the Alpe di Siusi is easily accessible, you can reach the starting point easily and quickly. Therefore, not only local, but also foreign paragliding- and hang-gliding pilots are visiting this ideal place under the Sciliar and Santner Peak. Also model glider pilots are enjoying the reliable thermal activity that slowly reaches its peak in the late afternoons. Furthermore, you can enjoy delicious traditional South Tyrolean meals at the Spitzbuehl Hut, which is located next to the starting place. Depending on the season, the upcurrent might not be available until after 2pm because of the West-North West positioning of the starting place. This allows enough time to enjoy a great meal of Speck (cured bacon) or Schlutzkrapfen (delicious spinach ravioli with parmesan cheese and melted butter).

The spring offers the most powerful thermal activity. If you prefer calmer thermal activity, however, the fall is an ideal time to enjoy it right in front of a breathtaking view. If you cannot locate suitable upcurrent at the starting place, remain pointed toward the Gstatsch-Restaurant, which is located right across the street and to the South of the Bullaccia. There you can often find more stable winds, especially in late fall, that stretches out to the base. Experienced pilots can land again on the starting field or on the place located to the East of it. However, there needs to be paid special attention to the starting pilots and to the manifold model glider pilots with strong West wind. The peak of every thermal flight on the Alpe di Siusi is the reaching of the Sciliar on the West side of the Santner Peak or of the Euringer Peak. A special experience is also the landing on the top of the Sciliar.

Seceda near Ortisei

The airfield surrounding the Seceda Mountain is also easily accessible with the Panorama Gondola from Ortisei.
The Seceda is definitely a more challenging area of the region and offers a lot of fun during every season. Those who would like to fly in this area should already have had a lot of flying experience, should have already started from steep slopes before, should be able to maneuver the glider securely, and should be able to manage more challenging landings. The Alpine environment requires good knowledge and experience with the quickly changing weather and the alternating wind system. If you have that, you are at the right place in the spring and in the fall. Here almost any wish of a specific route will be fulfilled and the view is grandiose.
